VELA was commissioned to craft the opening ceremony cinematic for the Esports World Cup, bringing to life the symbolic journey of a player earning their place on the world’s biggest competitive stage.
The cinematic follows a lone player on an epic journey across the vast Saudi Arabian desert in search of the Player’s Key—a mythical token that grants entry into the tournament. Through sweeping dunes, ancient ruins, and lush oases, the hero assembles the three core elements of the key: the center and the outer triangle. Once complete, the key activates, transporting him to Boulevard City, the heart of the Esports World Cup.
The story unfolded across three cinematic chapters, played live during the opening ceremony, immersing audiences in a narrative of adventure, determination, and transformation—setting the tone for the epic competition to follow.
THE OPENING CEREMONY
VELA was commissioned as the Opening Ceremony Producer for the Esports World Cup, overseeing the end-to-end execution of a two-hour live broadcast that kicked off the world’s largest esports competition.
From creative development and talent coordination to technical production and live showcalling, VELA led every facet of the show—managing performances, presentations, and global broadcast integration. Collaborating with an international production team, we ensured a seamless, high-impact experience that captured the scale, energy, and cultural significance of the moment.
As Opening Ceremony Producer, VELA acted as the connective force between creative vision, logistical execution, and live production—delivering a world-class show to a worldwide audience.
In addition to producing the live show, VELA was commissioned to capture and deliver a series of pre-recorded interviews with players, talent, teams, and hosts—crafted specifically for inclusion in the Esports World Cup Opening Ceremony.
These segments were filmed on location in Riyadh and edited for tape to seamlessly integrate into the live broadcast. VELA handled the full process—from production and direction to post-production—ensuring the content reflected the scale, emotion, and excitement of the global esports stage.
